What is double glazing?

  • Double glazed windows and doors consist of two panes of glass separated by a spacer, with the space between them typically filled with air or a gas like argon.
  • Double glazing is an insulated glass unit (IGU) that is assembled and sealed in a controlled factory environment.
  • Compared to single glazing, double glazing offers superior thermal insulation. It helps keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, ensuring a more consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the year.
  • Our double glazed units are processed locally in Auckland.
  • Our double glazed units are regularly tested by BRANZ and are compliant with EN1279.
  • All of our double glazed units come with a 10-year warranty.

Why use double glazing?

At a minimum home owners should use double glazing over single glazing.
Benefits of double glazing are increased insulation, reduced condensation and sound reduction.
While double glazing is a great product it is recommended to upgrade to low e double glazing.
The benefits of low e double glazing over standard double glazing are a substantial increase in insulation value and reduced heat coming into the room which heavily reduces over heating during summer months.
A further upgrade of laminated glass on one of the two panes offers substantially further reduced noise.

How can I get double glazing?

You have 2 options to choose from.

1) Full replacement joinery
2) Insert windows

Full replacement is when the entire existing window is removed and a
new upvc window or aluminium window is installed.

Insert windows is when we leave the existing timber window in place
and we install an insert into where the opening sash was.
